Nerial’s Develop Award-nominated narrative game proves people are still willing to pay for mobile games

Reigns becomes latest premium mobile poster child with over 600,000 sales

Reigns has sold more than 600,000 copies, primarily on iOS and Android.

The narrative game, which mixes a Tinder-style swiping mechanic with kingdom management, was released this summer and announced this sales milestone via its official Twitter account.

Responding to a congratulatory tweet, developer Nerial added that the majority of sales were from the iOS and Android versions, although it has yet to clarify how many copies have been sold on Steam.

It’s an encouraging sign for anyone developing premium mobile games, given that success stories outside the free-to-play space are few and far between.

Nerial also promised “additional cards and adventures” are in the works, expanding the game’s content.

Reigns was nominated for Use of Narrative in this year’s Develop Awards.
