GDC organisers CMP have teamed up with Connection Events to host a new Game Developers Conference in Lyon late this year.
The inaugural event is set to take place from December 3rd to 5th alongside the Game Connection ‘business matchmaking’ event.
Lyon GDC will boast content programmed by an advisory board of both local and international developers with an overall aim to promote and support the game industry, with 60 classes over a two-day period and one day of master classes and tutorials and also a key emphasis on networking thanks to the close proximity to Game Connection.
Game Connection hosts a number of its B2B events around the world, in France, Asia and as part of the big GDC in spring.
"Given our productive history of delivering GDC events in Europe, we are very pleased to present a custom iteration on the continent with Lyon GDC," said Jamil Moledina, executive director of the Game Developers Conference.
"Having worked with Pierre Carde and the Game Connection team for many years at GDC, we anticipate that this partnership will result in the same authentic experience that developers expect from a GDC event."
"The Game Developers Conference is known for bringing the most prominent speakers and influential partners to its world-class events," noted Pierre Carde, director of Connection Events.
"Adding Lyon GDC to Lyon Game Connection answers the need of the industry and creates a powerful and logical partnership where participants will garner heightened value through focused and productive educational, networking, and business opportunities."
