Game Developers Conference 2015 is just five weeks away, and no doubt many of you are already preparing your schedule for the week.
While there’s plenty of conference sessions to attend, don’t forget to consider GDC’s all-day bootcamps at the start of the week. These dedicated events give attendees a full day’s worth of sessions from expert speakers dedicated to a specific discipline.
In addition to the bootcamps, GDC will also be hosting a range of lengthy tutorials such as ‘Math for Game Programmers’, ‘Better Storytelling in a Day’ and ‘Game Design Workshop’. You can find out more at the official GDC website.
Read on to find out what to expect from the bootcamps this year. At the time of writing, sessions have only been announced for the animation bootcamp. Keep checking the GDC website for more on the other tracks.
Monday, March 2nd
- Animation Bootcamp
This bootcamp will start with a traditional look at animation by focusing on establishing and conveying a character’s performance, then transition into how to best apply that knowledge to game development.
- Art Director Bootcamp
Leading artistic forces of our industry share their experience and teach attendees about what really matters in art, and how to build or support a vision.
Tuesday, March 3rd
- Audio Bootcamp
Learn about practical skills relating to music composition, sound design, digital signal processing, audio mixing, the logistics of working in both large and small studio settings, and more.
- Producer Bootcamp
The Producer Bootcamp will focus on some of the key skills that are required by both producers who are new to the role and seasoned veterans, in order to be successful in this challenging industry.
- Technical Artist Bootcamp
Tech animators will learn quick prototyping techniques of animation systems. More techniques for automating asset processing, fast cinematic workflows, and optimizing asset performance for run-time will be covered.
We’ll be bringing you weekly updates on the conference, its programme and more. As usual, the March issue of Develop will be available on the show floor for all attendees, and we’ll be covering every major announcement and more online.
