The latest entries in the Pokmon franchise have had big starts in Europe, with Nintendo saying they are its most successful launch in the region to date.
The publisher has revealed that Pokmon Sun and Moon have shifted a whopping 1.5m units in their first week; 368,000 copies of this figure are from the UK.
It’s unclear whether these figures include digital data. Nor is it clear what the exact time frame of this data is.
Coupled with Sun and Moon’s impressive debut in Japan – where they sold 1.9m units in their first week – the title has sold in excess of 3.5m copies across Europe and Japan to date.
Pokmon Sun and Moon launched in the UK last week and debuted at third and fourth place in the Top Ten respectively. Combined, the duo would have outsold the top spot holder, EA’s FIFA 17.
It’s likely that the Pokmon Go phenomenon that took place this summer played more than a small part in the success of Pokmon Sun and Moon. When the mobile wonder hit earlier this year, 3DS sales jumped while pre-orders for Sun and Moon rose.
