Developer of Rocket League, Psyonix, has spoken out against the game’s inclusion on a real money gambling service.
Unikrn, a gambling platform that allows users to bet on competitive gaming, has recently added the RC car and football mash-up to its list of available games for its Australian members. The company announced it has been approved to take bets on the game by Australian regulators.
When asked by Gamespot about the news, publishing VP at Psyonix, Jeremy Dunham, said: "Psyonix is not affiliated with Unikrn, nor do we support or endorse online betting for our game."
Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood later followed up to say, "We are not in any way associated with the publishers of Rocket League. However, we love the game, and like other titles on our sportsbook, we create odds and content on the pro matches and their top tier tournaments."
Unikrn also supports sports betting within the UK, but there has been no indication whether the same agreement is in place for the country too.
After the success of last year’s competition, Season 3 of the Rocket League Championship Series recently got underway. League play will run throughout the month of April, the regional championships will follow in May and then the World Championship finals will take place in June.
