QPR forms its own esports FIFA team

Yet another real-life football club has decided to venture into the esports waters.

QPR has announced that it has teamed up with Virtual Pro Gaming to launch its own esports team, which will specialise in 11v11 Pro Clubs in FIFA 18.

Furthermore, it is still looking to fill four positions in its squad – goalkeeper, left-back, right attacking midfielder and centre forward. Interested players are able to register on the club’s Facebook page ahead of a trial game this Saturday (November 11th) that kicks off at 7:45pm.

Once it has a team in place it promises regular games, one of which will be streamed weekly via QPR’s YouTube page. It has also launched a dedicated esports Twitter feed.

“We’re excited to be taking our first steps into esports with Virtual Pro Gaming,” QPR commercial director Euan Inglis said. “There is great scope for us to take this partnership with VPG from strength to strength over the coming seasons, with esports very much at the fore-front of our digital strategy going forward.”

Many football clubs are involved in esports now, although most who choose to do so instead opt to sign a professional or two, rather than recruiting for a whole 11v11 squad and competing on a relatively unknown platform.
