Blizzard announces new Hearthstone expansion pack Kobolds and Catacombs

During Blizzard’s keynote speech at Blizzcon, they unveiled their newest Hearthstone’s latest expansion: Kobolds & Catacombs.

This is the third and final expansion park for 2017, Hearthstone’s Year of the Mammoth. It brings 135 new cards themed around, well, kobolds and catacombs. It’ll launch in December, but players logging in to Hearthstone on Monday will get a free card.

There’s a new keyword: ‘recruit’ which will see cards with the keyword pulling minions from your deck and dropping them into play. Sometimes this’ll be randomly recruited minions, and other times it’ll be minions that match certain conditions, depending on who’s recruiting what. Confusing? Sure, but it’ll make more sense when the players get hold of them in December.

Blizzard will also be delivering new single-player content, a roguelike mode that has players venturing through a dungeon, defeating bosses. Each boss you defeat will give you more cards, but if you die you have to start again with a deck of ten cards. The mode, called Dungeon Runs, is designed with replayability in mind.

Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs will launch in December.
