GAME has announced a new partnership between its games event company Multiplay and Minecraft creator Mojang to bring BlockFest events to the UK.
BlockFest events are community-based and aim at bringing the best of official Minecraft experiences to local communities around the world,” the announcement said. The exact format and location of the event has yet to be unveiled but Multiplay already announced ”YouTubers, modders, map makers and streamers, and a range of unique tournaments, costume contests and fan led activities.”
Multiplay has already been working with Mojang on the organisation of MineCon since 2012 and will implement a new version of this event this year, which will become a 90-minute livestream called MineCon Earth, instead of a proper convention. This will take place on November 18th and complement Multiplay’s new BlockFest events.
Stewart Fletcher, SVP US business development and special projects at Multiplay, commented: We’re hugely excited to secure the right to run BlockFest building on the huge success we’ve been able to bring to MineCon over the past five years. We understand what is needed to engage a huge community of fans, because we are part of that community.”
A spokesperson from Mojang added: We’re delighted to extend our relationship with Multiplay. They’ve proven their ability to connect with our fans and offer authentic in-person Minecraft experiences that bring our worlds to life, while delivering real impact for our brand.”
