Over 6m people tried the Battlefield Hardline beta

Gamers got the chance to try EA’s next Battlefield game this weekend, and the numbers suggest significant interest in the multiplayer FPS.

Developer Visceral Games said that over 6m players tried the open beta that kicked off last week on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and concludes tonight.

We’re just five weeks away from the launch of Battlefield Hardline, how could we possibly be acting on that feedback?” Visceral’s VP and GM Steve Papoutsis said. Well, I can assure you we are. In fact, we’ve already been prioritizing changes for things fans are talking about.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the community one more time. We love the two way dialogue we’ve established. And now that you’ve driven millions of miles in Hotwire, you’ve stolen billions of dollars in Heist, and you’ve continued to show mad love for Conquest, we can’t wait until you get a chance to play the whole package. We have seven multiplayer modes, nine diverse maps and a full single player campaign that’s like nothing Battlefield has ever seen before.”

Last year an open beta for Destiny was played by over 4.6m people, which Activision said made it the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date”.

EA last summer took the decision to delay the release of Battlefield Hardline from late last year to early this. It’s currently scheduled for release on March 20th in the UK.
