2GGaming and eSports Arena have announced a new Smash Bros Wii U (4) circuit for 2017 with a massive $100,000 prize pool.
Exact details are a little thin on the ground after a brief announcement over the weekend, but it seems that there will be twelve events over the course of 2017, with the top players then being invited to the final event. The competition seems to be mainly focused in the US, although as is the case with most Smash events players will probably travel from all over the world to compete in it.
This is the first time we have seen an organiser try to set up a massive competition that spans over multiple months. With very little support from Nintendo the Smash community is very much a grassroots setup, and outside of the likes of EVO and CEO prize pools are generally quite small. That all changes now.
We will update with more information as it becomes available.
