Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 confirmed

Ubisoft has revealed two big sequels will arrive before March 2018.

Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 have both been name dropped by the company, as well as confirmation that a new Assassin’s Creed game will arrive in the same time frame – presumably called Origins and set in Egypt.

Joining those three in the release window will be the long-awaited South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

The news comes as Ubisoft reported a 40 per cent jump in operating income for its last financial year, as well as a five per cent increase in sales.

Like other major publishers, digital is accounting for an ever larger share of Ubisoft’s numbers. In the last year 50 per cent of its sales were digital, up from 32 per cent in the previous year. Its monthly active user number was up, too, climbing over 25 per cent.

The company says it intends to expand this, too, thanks to its reliability compared to the triple-A new release market. It admits that compared to some rivals it is still digitally playing catch up.

One of its biggest success stories is Ghost Recon: Wildlands, which Ubisoft claims is the best-selling games across the entire industry in 2017 so far. For Honor, it says, is the second best-selling.

The number of players engaged with Tom Clancy titles is up almost 150 per cent in under a year and half.

"Over the last three fiscal years, Ubisoft has – with remarkable success – created numerous new brands and rebooted Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon,” boss Yves Guillemot said. These successes have strengthened our visibility for the coming two fiscal years, with a line-up of releases principally comprised of established franchises."
