Vivendi H1 revenues drop 11%

Revenues for Vivendi’s games division have dipped 11 per cent year on year – with the publisher blaming the drop on the lack of World Of Warcraft release this year.

The firm made €444 million in the period (US 698m), down from the €500 million (US $786 million) it posted a year before.

Q2 revenues stood at €223 million (US $350m), which was actually up form the €209 million (US $328m) in Q2 2007-2008.

The firm said in a statement:

A comparison of the first half of 2007 and the first half of 2008 performances is not representative because first half 2007 included the hugely successful release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

"Blizzard Entertainment’s second expansion, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2008.”
