2D titles find a new home at Jools Watsham’s Atooi, while 3D games will move to Gregg Hargrove’s outlet Infitizmo

Renegade Kid co-founders split after a decade to form new studios

Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove, the development duo behind Mutant Mudds studio Renegade Kid, have announced that the company will dissolve after a decade of working together.

The outlet’s first release was 2007’s Dementium: The Ward, which was followed by a variety of titles including the Mutant Mudds series of platformers.

In 2014, the company launched an ultimately unsuccessful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in an attempt to develop first-person horror game Cult Country. The game’s development went ahead, albeit at a slower pace than expected.

Insisting the split is amiable on the Renegade Kid website, Watsham and Hargrove announced that they will subsequently form two separate studios: Atooi and Infitizmo, respectively.

The two outlets will also take control of Renegade Kid’s existing IP, with Atooi managing the rights for the studio’s 2D titles, including Mutant Mudds and Treasurenauts, and Infitizmo gaining possession of its 3D products, such as Dementium and Moon Chronicles.

Atooi will concentrate on producing retro-styled titles for mobile, while Infitizmo is billed instead as a multimedia firm with a broader focus on storytelling and cross-medium entertainment.
