Submissions for indie contest close on 31st December

Google Play indie game contest seeks to help indie developers establish themselves

Do you want to put your game in a premium place on the Google Play Store, showcase your game at an event held in London’s Saatchi Gallery and attend Google’s 2017 I/O events? Google Play’s Indie Games Contest will tick all your boxes, with a few more additions besides.

Google Play’s Indie Games Contest is open to independent developers in Europe with a staff of less than 15 full time employees and have published a game on the Google Play store in 2016. If this sounds like you, you can click here to find out more, but it seems the contest is looking to help indie developers get a foothold in the competitive mobile games market.

The prizes for winners look like a useful thing for helping developers reach the big-time, with a lot of the prizes taking the form of marketing on a Google channel, which could be just the user acquisition boost a game needs to hit the big time.

-Showcasing your game at an event held at the Saatchi Gallery in London
-YouTube influencer campaigns worth up to 100,000 EUR
-Premium placements in Google Play Store
-Tickets to Google I/O 2017 & other top industry events
-Promotions on our channels
-Credits for Google Cloud Platform
-Special prizes for the best Unity game

Google are also hosting a workshop to all indie games developers at Google’s new London offices in Kings Cross on the 17th February, the day after the special event celebrating the winners of the contest at the Saatchi Gallery on the 16th February.
