Aside from the fact that you could literally burn your house down, killing your loved ones in the process, you’re also soon going to find that your handset has become severely restricted.
Having already blocked the Gear VR app, limited the battery to 60 per cent capacity via an update and even cut the device off from networks in some countries, Samsung is now going one step further to force reticent owners to hand in their handsets.
An update will roll out in the UK and Europe this week that will cut battery capacity to just 30 per cent, rendering the phone virtually useless. It is hoped that the move will be the last straw for the ten per cent of owners who are yet to hand their phones back.
This new battery software update is specifically designed to reinforce to the remaining minority of customers to immediately replace their device via their local Galaxy Note 7 Replacement Programme,” Samsung told TechRadar.
The Galaxy Note 7 was officially recalled in October, with carriers ordered to stop selling the handsets and manufacturing ceased.
