Google has announced the Pixel, the first phone made entirely by the search giant with no other companies involved.
The Pixel features the best smartphone camera ever, with a 12.3MP camera featuring an f/2.0 aperture and big 1.55 micron pixels, which certainly sounds impressive. It also comes loaded with the new Android 7.1 Nougat OS and features a 3.5mm headphone jack, something Google was keen to point out.
Also included is a fingerprint scanner, much like those found on the iPhone, but as Google put it theirs is placed on the back of the phone where your finger expects it.”
Impressively Google claims that 15 minutes of charging will give you seven hours of battery life, which if true could be a game changer in the world of mobile batteries.
Google’s new phone is available in two sizes, 5” or 5.5”, and three colours: Very Silver, Quite Black and for the US only, Really Blue, all of which ridiculous names for colours.
Pre orders start at 599 for the 5” 32GB version, with the 5.5” version adding an extra 120 to the cost.
