Samsung officially halts production of the Note 7, tells users to "power down"

It looks like the days of exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7s are over as Samsung has told all users to power down.”

After reports yesterday that production of the Note 7 had stopped, Samsung came out and confirmed that was the case, and that they have told all carriers and retailers to stop selling and replacing the Note 7.

Samsung also warned people who own a Note 7 that they should power down” the device and go get a refund from their place of purchase.

It remains to be seen if the Note 7 will ever be on store shelves again, but at this point that is looking less and less likely.

We are working with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7,” read Samsung’s statement. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.

We remain committed to working diligently with the CPSC, carriers and our retail partners to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 should power down and take advantage of the remedies available, including a refund at their place of purchase.”
