Six years on from the release of Angry Birds, Angry Birds 2 has at last arrived on smartphones.
It’s far from the first sequel, of course. In fact, Angry Birds 2 is the 15th game in the series, following the likes of Seasons, Space, Star Wars, Rio, Stella, Transformers and many more.
While Angry Birds 2 stays very true to the formula of the original, the visuals and presentation have been given a complete overhaul, with loads of new animations and striking cartoon visuals. There are also some gameplay tweaks, such as the ability to switch between bird types on the fly.
Also present, however, are a myriad of ways for players to spend their cash. Gone are the days of 69p getting you care-free access to everything the game has to offer.
Rovio still has high hopes for Angry Birds, with a movie on the way in 2016. But has the brand got enough legs left in it to help the company navigate its recent troubles?
