Angry Birds 2 racks up 1m downloads in 12 hours

Rovio has announced Angry Birds 2 has already been downloaded 1m times in its first 12 hours out on mobile platforms.

The studio revealed the news on Twitter, with the figure combining the very early totals of iOS and Android releases.

According to Apple, the original Angry Birds has been downloaded over 3bn times and players have spent 1m years of total time playing the game.

Angry Birds as a franchise has expanded far beyond the mobile free-to-play market to include several spin-off titles, toy and clothing lines, an upcoming film, theme parks and more.
