Mario Maker, Pikmin and Yoshi’s Woolly World are 3DS bound

The NX may be as much portable as it is home console, but that isn’t stopping Nintendo’s support of its existing handheld.

The company yesterday announced a trio of top IP for the device.

First off, Super Mario Maker will be making the jump from Wii U to 3DS under the title Super Mario Maker for 3DS. It looks to retain most of the functionality of its bigger brother, and will even support maps created on Wii U. There will be some exceptions, however, with a number of features – such as Mystery Mushrooms – remaining Wii U exclusive and therefore not compatible.

Also confirmed is Pikmin, although not in its traditional guise. This outing will be a side-scroller and more-action orientated than its predecessors.

Yoshi’s Woolly World is on the way to 3DS, too, featuring all of the levels from the Wii U game along with a number of new levels in which players control Poochy Pups.

There’s a fourth new 3DS title in the works, too, called Mario Sports Superstars. It features five different activities – football, baseball, tennis, golf and horse racing. So an amalgamation of Mario’s existing sports outings, then. With added horses.

There will be a yarn Poochy Amiibo, too, along with four new Legend of Zelda Amiibos – 8-bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link, Wind Waker Link and Wind Waker Zelda. Each one will have the same functionality as their Smash Bros counterparts in that game, but will also have special functionality for the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Rounding off the announcements, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, is also now available on Wii U Virtual Console.
