Based at San Francisco’s The W Hotel and taking place on March 7th and 8th (with a VIP welcome reception on the 6th), GDC Prime is billed as "two days of thought-provoking sessions presented by leaders and innovators in the games industry and related industries, for executive event attendees only".
Set up as an invitation-only element to the conference, Prime is an "opportunity to network and share knowledge with top-level executives, key players and decision makers in the games industry".
Some key development names have already joined the line up of speakers, with EA LA’s Neil Young, Foundation 9 CEO Jon Goldman and Sony Pictures Digital president Yair Landau and vice president Shalom Mann set to give talks, amongst others. Author of The Ghost Map and Everything Bad Is Good For You, Steven Berlin Johnson, is also on board.
Although attendence is controlled and invitation only, CMP has some details with regards to pricing. Registration costs $3100 until January 31, 2007; and is $3900 thereafter. More information can be found at GDC Prime’s dedicated site (link below).
GDC Prime runs alongside the proper Game Developers Conference that runs from march 5th to 9th at the nearby San Francisco Moscone Center. GDC proper features dedicated mobile, casual, serious and indie games summits on the 5th and 6th with the main conference and expo for the entire games development industry running from March 6th to 9th.
