Date and new venue named ahead of the biggest ever BAFTA Video Games Awards.

2007 BAFTA Games Awards unveiled

This year’s ceremony will take place on Tuesday October 23rd at Battersea Evolution in London, and could accommodate more than 2,000 guests. It’s a significant ramping up of the awards, which were attended by 700 guests last year.

“We needed to find somewhere which gave us room to expand, because the Academy’s long term commitment is to make these awards the global kitemark of games excellence,” said BAFTA’s head of awards Anne-Marie Flynn. “Last year we mounted the most highly attended Awards in the industry and this year will be even bigger.”

ELSPA director general and chair of the academy’s games committee Paul Jackson added: “In a very short space of time, an Academy Video Games Award – which recognises excellence in the fastest-growing form of entertainment – has become the most coveted in the industry.”
