Track & Field leads summer Xbox charge

One of the most anticipated games bound for Xbox Live, Konami’s 1983 arcade sports title Track & Field, will finally arrive on the service tomorrow at a cost of 400 Microsoft points.

The game will stay true to the original, boasting the same array of button-bashing sports events. It will allow up to four players to compete either on one 360 or across Xbox Live.

Three other games have also been confirmed for August – Sega’s aquatic Mega Drive adventure Ecco the Dolphin, Carbonated’s puzzle sequel Hexic 2 and Ubisoft’s mech battler War World.

A range of titles have also been promised for ‘the coming weeks’, namely Jeff Minter’s ‘definitely nothing like Tempest’ shooter Space Giraffe, Eidos’s Geon: Emotions, D3P’s Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, Sega’s Streets of Rage 2 and Capcom’s Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

In total, Microsoft says over 100 games will hit Xbox Live before the end of the year.

There’s still no word, however, on when Codemasters’ hugely anticipated Sensible World of Soccer will finally hit Live – though the fact that it is not mentioned in the summer line-up could indicate an autumn release.
