Super Mario Maker 2 claims another UK No.1

The top of the UK weekly physical charts was very familiar this week, with the same three titles being crowned.

Super Mario Maker 2 had a very good second week in the charts, remaining at the top spot after a successful launch last week. Sales for the title were only down 47 per cent week-on-week.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled also remained at No.2 (after topping the monthly charts for June last week), with sales decreasing 45 per cent week-on-week, while F1 2019 held on to its No.3 spot with a 57 per cent drop in sales.

There were no new titles in the Top 40 this week.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continued to steadily rise in the Top Ten, charting at No.4 this week thanks to a slight nine per cent rise in sales. Super Smash Bros Ultimate also enjoyed a good performance, gaining five spots to No.5 following a 21 per cent sales increase compared to last week. And it’s also worth noting that Breath of the Wild was also back in the Top Ten, charting at No.9 after two consecutive weeks of good sales.

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 11 gained 14 spots following a 32 per cent rise in sales week-on-week, and made it to No.10.

It was overall a very successful week for the Switch, which surpassed the Xbox One for the second week running in terms of units: 33.6 per cent of the copies shifted last week were Switch SKUs, against 22 per cent for Xbox One (and, as a comparison, 40.8 per cent for PS4). In terms of value, the Switch actually did better than the PS4, with Switch titles representing 41.1 per cent of the revenue made from physical games sales last week, versus 37.1 per cent for the PS4 and 19.3 per cent for the Xbox One.
