Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has taken back the top of the UK physical charts for the first time since its launch, making it to No.1 this week. Sales for the Crash Bandicoot racing title continued to be consistent, with just a slight 11 per cent decrease week-on-week. GfK pointed out that the title benefitted from a “slight Amazon Prime Day boost.”
Only a couple of hundred copies separated the best selling title of the week from No.2, new Switch exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. Launch sales for the title were down 30.2 per cent compared to its 2009 predecessor, but the games market was a very different beast back, plus Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 launched on four platforms.
Amazon Prime Day didn’t only boost Crash Team Racing this week, as 34 games out of the Top 40 had an increase in sales week-on-week due to the online retailer’s promotions. FIFA 19 for instance saw its sales rise 219 per cent, charting at No.4, while Red Dead Redemption had 142 per cent increase (No.5) and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 jumped to No.7 following a 310 per cent rise.
There were no other new entries in the charts this week, but the market still improved massively week-on-week thanks to Amazon Prime Day: units sales were up 41 per cent compared to last week and revenue increased 29 per cent.
We are still down compared to last year though, with a 15.1 per cent decrease in unit sales year-on-year and a 11.6 per cent reduction in revenue YoY.
