Evo, the fighting game community’s annual jolly in Las Vegas, has had its 2018 details revealed, showing that it will return to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino from August 3 to August 5.
This is a little later in the fighting game calendar, arriving a month later than it’s usual spot in July. The reason for the date change hasn’t been revealed, but it will be remaining at its Mandalay Bay venue, which was in some doubt after a mass shooting on Oct 1 saw the perpetrator firing from a room on the hotel’s thirty second floor.
There are no details on the games that will be appearing at EVO 2018, but 2017 saw tournaments for nine different fighting games. It’s a safe bet to imagine that Street Fighter V will return, alongside an entry in the Smash Bros franchise. Everything else is up in the air, and will be revealed in the near future.
This is the biggest event in the fighting game calendar, and fight fans could do a lot worse than to tune in. No one pops off better than someone clutching victory on an Evo stage, after all.
