UK games industry charity GamesAid – which acts as an umbrella to support a number of smaller charities who help disadvantaged and disabled children and young people – has appointed two new trustees to its board: Tiny Rebel’s Susan Cummings and Gamer Network’s Josh Heaton.
Executive Producer and co-founder of Tiny Rebel Games, Susan Cummings has over 20 years of experience in game development and publishing. She has co-developed and published two award-winning Doctor Who games, and worked with IPs like Star Trek, War of the Worlds and Ghostbusters. Cummings was “also one of the main founders of 2K Games who built their product portfolio and the foundations of 2K Sports”.
“I’m incredibly proud to be coming on board as a trustee for GamesAid. The games industry is full of compassionate people who want to make a difference in the world and it’s great that we have a charity that can help facilitate that desire,” said Cummings. “I truly hope that I can help expand the effort.”
Josh Heaton is Head of and Design Manager for Gamer Creative, Gamer Network’s in-house creative agency which works with developers and publishers to develop designs for marketing and advertising. He has also worked on sites such as Eurogamer, VG247, Rock Paper Shotgun and more.
“GamesAid is an iconic and selfless asset within our amazing industry,” added Heaton. “As a trustee, ensuring charities across the UK receive as many funds possible is my top priority.”
The industry charity GamesAid raised £213,120 over the last year. This total was split between nine charities that were voted for by the members of GamesAid and presented to the organisations – Accuro, Access Sport Trust, Autistica, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, Lifelites, Everyone Can, my AFK, Solving Kids’ Cancer and Special Effect – last year. In a highly-emotional event, all received cheques for £23,680 from the charity.
